Post-Op Instructions
Teeth Whitening Aftercare
Simple steps to keep your smile bright and comfortable.
The First 2 Days
Right after whitening, your teeth stain easily. For the first 48 hours, avoid anything that could stain a white shirt — coffee, tea, red wine, dark sodas, berries, tomato sauce, and soy sauce. Stick to lighter-colored foods. Skip tobacco.
If Your Teeth Feel Sensitive
A little sensitivity is normal and goes away on its own. To feel better faster:
- —Brush with Sensodyne (or any toothpaste with potassium nitrate), twice a day.
- —After brushing, spit — but don't rinse. Let it stay on your teeth. This is what calms the sensitivity.
- —Brush gently with a soft brush. Pressing hard makes sensitivity worse.
- —Avoid very hot or very cold food and drinks for a couple of days.
Make It Last
- —The cleaner you eat and drink, the longer your results last.
- —When you have coffee or tea, sip through a straw.
- —Keep up with your regular cleanings.
